About Us

Zenithshots is a documentary wedding and portrait photography team that travels. We photograph across the United States, and we research every venue before we shoot it — more than 1,100 of those write-ups are published on our blog, covering forty-eight states from Chicago and Boston to Santa Fe and Savannah. The approach is quiet on the day and thorough afterwards: we watch rather than direct, we use available light wherever a room allows it, and every frame worth keeping is edited and delivered, usually within four to eight weeks.

Achievements and Recognition

Rather than a list of adjectives, here are three things about us you can check for yourself before you book.

1,120 venue guides published

1,120 venue write-ups across forty-eight states, published free on our blog. Look up your own venue and read what we already know about it — where the light falls and when, the rooms that photograph well and the ones that fight you.

Documentary by default

We watch rather than direct, and we work in available light wherever a room allows it. We do not re-run a first kiss for a better angle, and the group shots are done quickly so you can get back to your guests.

Insured, backed up, covered

Backup bodies, lenses and cards on every job, because a card failure at a wedding cannot be fixed afterwards. Professional liability insurance that venues accept, and a contract that states what happens if we cannot attend.

We photograph the day as it happens

Zenithshots is a documentary wedding and portrait photography team. We spend most of your day out of the way, watching rather than directing, and the photographs that come back are of things that actually happened rather than things we arranged. The exceptions are your group shots and your portraits, where a little direction saves everyone half an hour of standing about — and we get those done quickly so you can get back to your guests.

How we work

Available light first. We use flash when a room genuinely needs it, not by default. A dark venue is a craft problem, not an excuse.

We research your venue before the day. Where the light falls and at what hour, the rooms that photograph well, the ones that fight you, and where to go if it rains. more than 1,100 of those write-ups are published on our blog, covering forty-eight states.

We plan the timeline with you. About a month out we send a short brief, and if the running order will not work photographically we say so while there is still time to change it.

Everything usable is delivered. Every frame worth keeping, properly edited, in a private online gallery with a print release. Typically four to eight weeks. Prints, albums and wall pieces can be ordered straight from that gallery whenever you want them.

What we will tell you honestly

If we are not the right team for your day, we will say so and try to point you at someone who is. If a timeline will not work, we will say that too. We would rather lose a booking than take one we cannot do well.

Where we work

We travel for weddings across the United States. Rather than claim a territory, we publish what we actually know: more than 1,100 venue guides covering forty-eight states, from Chicago and Boston to Santa Fe, Savannah and Whitefish. If your venue is in there, we have already done the homework; if it is not, we will do it before your day. Travel is quoted honestly and you see the figure before you book. The business is registered at 30 N Gould St, Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801.

The practical things

We carry backup bodies, lenses and cards, because a card failure at a wedding cannot be fixed afterwards. We carry professional liability insurance, which many venues now ask for. Your agreement sets out what happens if we cannot attend: we send a photographer of comparable experience, or we refund everything you have paid.

Tell us about your day and we will come back within one working day with honest availability and a real price.
