Frequently asked questions

The things couples actually ask us, answered plainly. If something you need is not here, write to us and we will answer it — and then it will be here.

Can we meet you before booking?

Yes, and we would rather you did. A twenty-minute video call tells you more about whether you want us at your wedding than any brochure can, and it costs you nothing. If you are local we are happy to meet in person instead. We will not use it to sell at you.

How do we get the photographs?

Through a private online gallery, password protected, with a download button for the full-resolution files and a print release so you can order prints anywhere you like. Most weddings are delivered in four to eight weeks, and the gallery stays live for 60 days with a warning before it closes.

How many photographs do we get?

Every frame worth keeping, properly edited — not a number we have picked to look generous. In practice a six-hour wedding usually produces around 350 photographs and a full day around 550 to 650. We do not pad a gallery with near-duplicates, and we do not hold images back to sell to you later.

Can we add hours on the day?

Yes. Days overrun and we would rather stay than walk out during the speeches. Additional coverage is charged at our hourly rate, agreed in writing before the day so there is never a surprise on the invoice, and we simply add it afterwards.

How involved are you in planning?

As much as you want us to be. Around a month before the day we send a short questionnaire covering the running order, the group photographs you want, the people we must not miss and anything to handle carefully. We will tell you honestly if a timeline will not work photographically, while there is still time to change it.

What if our photographer cannot attend?

We carry backup equipment for every shoot, and if the photographer booked for your day genuinely cannot attend through illness or an emergency, we assign a photographer of comparable experience from our own team and you still get the package you paid for. It is written into your agreement rather than offered as goodwill.

What happens if it rains?

We plan for it. Every venue we shoot is researched beforehand for indoor fallbacks and covered spots, and difficult light is a craft problem rather than an excuse. Rain often makes the better photographs — it is the running order that needs a plan, not the camera.

What if we have to move the date?

We move with you wherever we can, and your retainer follows the booking to the new date if we are free. If we are already booked we will tell you straight away and help you find someone good, which is partly why we run the directory.

How far ahead should we book?

Most couples book nine to eighteen months ahead, but we have shot weddings arranged in a fortnight. Bookings made within 15 days of the date are paid in full up front rather than split into a retainer and a balance, because there is no time to chase a balance that is already due.

Do you travel, and what does it cost?

We travel for weddings across the United States. Travel within 100 miles of a booking is included. Beyond that we quote the actual cost — mileage or flights, and a room if the day starts early — and you see the figure before you book anything.

Who owns the photographs?

We keep the copyright and you get a personal print release with no expiry: print them, share them, hang them. We ask before using anything from your day in our own portfolio, and no is a complete answer.

Will our details be passed on?

No. Nothing in the terms would let us, and photographers in the directory see an enquiry only after you have chosen them.

Answers to what couples actually ask us: what wedding photography costs, how long a gallery takes, whether you can meet us before booking, what happens if it rains, how many photographs you receive, what you may do with your images, and what happens if we cannot attend.
